The park covers 754 sq km and is the home to the highest mountain between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea. Acclaimed to have two thirds of the world’s floras, some of which are endemic to the mountain area only. Look out for the exceptionally rare and beautiful Slipper Orchids. The world’s largest pitcher plant can also be found in Kinabalu Park. Ideal for bird watchers as more than 264 species of birds including migratory birds have been recorded here. Drive past vistas of rice fields and native villages. Participate in the daily jungle walk with a Park Naturalist on guided trails and learn about some of the medicinal plants found along the way. Explore the tropical rainforest as you follow one of the many trails that lead up to the canopy walkway, 42m above the forest floor. This facility was originally made for scientific research until it was opened to the public to experience the breathtaking walk on the canopy. Thereafter proceed to the nearby hot springs pool, which is believed to have therapeutic benefits for skin care. While here, you may also visit the nearby Kipungit waterfall, the butterfly farm as well as being on the look out for the biggest flower in the world, the rafflesia. This gigantic parasite flower is known to grow within and outside the park area. After lunch, retrace your journey to Kinabalu Park and explore the mountain forest with our own naturalist guide. Return to Kota Kinabalu in the late afternoon.

An enjoyable 1.5 hours ride to Beaufort town passing idyllic coastal areas. Board a colonial era railcar (1.5 hours) for a ride up the wild Padas gorge to the starting point (PANGI Station). The track hugs the edge of the riverbank on one side, and the mighty Crocker range on the other. Padas River offers the ultimate roller ride for skilled rafters. Embark on a roller-coaster ride through rapids with names such as Head-hunter, Adrenaline Flow, and Merry-Go-Round, before enjoying a sumptuous barbeque lunch at the end of the trip.

Depart from Kota Kinabalu to Beaufort district on a two-hour drive to the southwest of Sabah. On arrival at jetty, proceed for introductory and safety briefing and refreshment before beginning your river cruise in search of wildlife, especially the endemic proboscis monkey aka long nose monkey along the river. This area is part of the largest Klias wetland sanctuary in Sabah and has recorded a large number of bird species including migratory birds. You will also have the opportunity to see pig-tailed and long-tailed macaques, the rare silver langur, and water buffaloes. The cruise will last till sunset and as you return to the jetty, you will witness a Mother Nature show of fireflies, lighting up certain trees along the river. Your day starts at 8:00 AM with hotel pickup in Kota Kinabalu, followed by a scenic drive to Tagal Tinopikon Park, a peaceful village surrounded by lush greenery. You’ll arrive around 9:00 AM and be welcomed with a traditional gong beating ceremony, a Kadazan-Dusun symbol of hospitality. A short briefing will then introduce the Tagal system, a community-based river conservation practice.

Next, enjoy a relaxing fish spa foot soak in the river. At 10:00 AM, take part in a traditional cooking demonstration, learning how villagers prepare local dishes such as hinava, spicy and sour fish, and kundur chicken soup.
